«The Artist» has been nominated for 10 Oscars, including the 3 most prestigious categories: Best Picture, Best Director and Best Actor.

Oscar expectations for «The Artist» are growing, as the film has already won every major Hollywood award that precedes the Academy Awards:

- the PGA Awards crowned Thomas Langmann as the best producer of the year.

- the DGA Award honored Michel Hazanavicius as Best Director. The DGA Award is a reliable measure of Oscar success, as 12 of the last 16 winners have won Best Picture at the Oscars.

- The SAG Award honored Jean Dujardin as Best Actor.
